When I was preparing for the launch of my blog, I thought hard about what I would describe my style as. The word that stuck in my head was “urban chic”. As a career-driven woman living and working in one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the world, I can’t help but fall in love with the style that embodies my personality and lifestyle. Recently, I have started wearing more pleated skirt and got more comfortable with midi skirt. If you read one of my previous blog posts, you might remember that I once thought long skirts made me look super weighed down and conservative, but they are exactly the opposite!
Midi Pleated Skirt
This shiny moonlight blue midi skirt by Tibi is simply stunning. While I would not recommend it for anyone below 5’2, as it can be too long for you, I highly recommend it if you’re around my height (5’5”) or taller. In terms of sizing, it does run a little bigger than my usual size (2), so I would recommend going 1 size down if you plan to order. The material is glossy and of high quality, given the higher price tag, it is not a surprise! By the way, the most cost-effective way to get this skirt is Rent the Runway – I just started this moment and am loving it so far.
To avoid looking weighed down, I paired it with my favorite red boots from Vince Camuto. If you’ve been following along, you would have seen I have worn this with a couple of outfits. They are so sexy, classy and comfortable (hard to believe I know, but surprisingly true. I just wouldn’t walk around with them for more than 1 hour).
I am a big fan of red highlights when styling my outfits – not a big secret at all given the predominant red theme on my Instagram feed. I found this cute little bag from Tory Burch that has the exact shade of red I love (orange-toned red) and the practicality I need. It fits a long wallet (I have had this one from Ted Baker for years and still love it) perfectly and a couple of other small items (like your lipsticks, keys, travel-sized perfume etc.).
I think this look is perfect for a night out in the spring or a romantic date night! I wore it to work and received so many compliments – so definitely crowd-approved.
Do you like wearing midi skirts? What occasions do you wear them to?
