As we get closer to spring, my obsession with red is also growing. We’re going to see brighter weather – what’s brighter than red? Recently, I came across a red lace top from Rent the Runway and it caught my attention immediately. This is a perfect day to night top for me. It will guarantee lots of compliments from your coworkers and you won’t feel underdressed if you’re heading to a cocktail party after work. Since red is the main color, pairing it with a pair of sexy red booties is a natural choice.
Normally, I don’t wear a lot of lace. As feminine as my style is, I think lace is sometime a bit too much. It always reminds me of lingerie for some reason, but I have to admit that this beautiful lace top by Marissa Webb doesn’t feel the same. Yes, you need a basic tank top below it (you can go with black or red), or you will expose too much of yourself. The material is also pretty solid, so it is definitely high quality enough to wear to a semi-formal occasion.
The natural choice for a bag would be a red bag. Since this is a going-out look, a smaller crossbody bag would be more appropriate. I came across this cross leather clutch/crossbody bag combo from Tory Burch and it is absolutely a stunner. The leather is so soft and there is just enough room for a long wallet (I use this one from Ted Baker) and a couple of small items such as your keys, phone and lipsticks.
I love the fact that you can easily convert it into a clutch from crossbody bag – another feature perfect for day to night situations.
Since the lace top and crossbody bag are on the pricer side, I think it makes sense to go cheap on accessories. I found these cute red sunglasses from Urban Outfitters for $16. I don’t normally spend a lot on sunglasses, so this is just the perfect price range.
If you’ve been following my previous posts, you will have seen these Vince Camuto red booties a couple of times already. Yes, I am still in the honey moon phase with them. I really hope that they will stay with me unbroken for a long time as they look so good with any pop of red looks. In fact, there is not once when I wore them out and not receive a compliment.
Do you think red is the color for the spring? What color do you like to wear for the spring?
